"Launching this Wednesday in La Mesa, I'm looking forward to Smokey & The Brisket, Alberto Morreale’s second neighborhood restaurant (he also runs multiple Farmer’s Table locations, including one on La Mesa Boulevard). Replacing the Lake Murray Cafe, the 5,000-square-foot space is centered on barbecue and features an on-site smoker that slow-cooks slabs of ribs, pulled pork, chicken and brisket, all offered a la carte or as sandwiches and flatbreads; the menu also includes variations on rotisserie chicken, grilled Sicilian sausage and a Churrasco steak served with chimichurri. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the restaurant is designed to host large parties when they’re permitted again and reflects Morreale’s passion for vintage cars and motorsports with booths made from car parts, motorcycles on display, a counter constructed from toolboxes and a bar made from a classic 1960s Dodge A100 van, and it will screen NASCAR, motocross, monster truck events and similar sports on its TVs." - Candice Woo
