"I noted that Ivar’s—famous for its fish ‘n’ chips and chowders—opened a new Seafood Bar at 5910 Lake Washington Blvd NE in Kirkland. The menu includes those signature fish ‘n’ chips and chowders plus grilled Alaskan salmon BLTs, halibut with wild rice, cornbread and coleslaw, and Pacific true cod tacos; this location also serves beer and wine. The spot has an outdoor patio with views of nearby Houghton Beach and seating for around 78. Unlike the chain’s full-service restaurants, Ivar’s Seafood Bars are more fast-casual with counter ordering and a slightly different, more affordable menu that emphasizes salads and sandwiches; Kirkland is the offshoot’s 22nd location, with other Eastside outposts in Bellevue, Issaquah, and Renton. The new restaurant is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m." - Gabe Guarente
