"A pop-up dinner collective that has hosted events in New York City is celebrating an April move to Austin with an SXSW dinner on March 13 at 6:30 p.m. (502 Thompson Lane). Tickets are $65 and proceeds will benefit Refugee Services of Texas, with a portion also directed to a partnering refugee-run food business. The meal — hosted by the collective's founders alongside an Iraqi refugee couple — will feature dishes such as tabbouleh salad, beef cracked wheat bread, meatball biryani, and sweetznood (phyllo dough and milk sweetened with simple syrup and pistachio); the couple will also share their personal narrative during the event. Earlier that day the organizers are leading a panel with a Refugee Services representative about using food as grassroots community empowerment, and having been accepted to MassChallenge Accelerator TX they expect to stage additional pop-ups in Austin soon." - Erin Russell
