"I came upon Nuan Xin Rice Roll at the corner of Hester and Eldridge and discovered it specializes not in dim sum rice noodle sheets but in stout rolls of sticky rice — including striking purple grains — wrapped in nori and usually eaten hot for breakfast in Taiwan. I ordered duck ($4.50) and beef ($4.25); the counter warned they contained "mayonnaise sauce," which was modestly applied inside so it oozed without making a mess. The duck was particularly delicious, filled with pinky-size pieces of skin-on duck; the beef was on the dry side, almost like jerky." - Robert Sietsema
