"Skillets of seafood paella, colorful ceviches, and family-sized portions of lechon asado are all on the menu at Alta Toro in Midtown. Backed by Ayman Kamel of 5Church in Midtown and Buckhead, Alta Toro translates to 'high bull' in Spanish — a phrase associated with bullfighting and an energetic and powerful bull in the ring. Led in the kitchen by Guerrero, Mexico, native chef Gaudalupe 'Lupe' Nanbo, expect a menu featuring paella, pig roasts, and a variety of tapas dishes styled after those found in Spain and countries throughout Latin America paired cocktails and a mostly Latin American wine and beer list. The high energy theme continues in the design, with colorful custom art pieces by local and Latin American artists and plenty of open spaces in the dining room for live bands to play and for dancing. A large tree sculpture, complete with lights hanging from its sprawling branches, adorns the middle of the dining room. Large garage doors open to a covered patio in front of Alta Toro, where more dancing and live-fire cooking should take place during the warmer months. Open Tuesday - Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Hours expanding in the coming months, along with lunch and brunch service." - Beth McKibben
