"Opening on Tuesday, March 26, the new Midtown outpost at 2400 Elliston Place expands Pat Martin's meaty empire. I like that no freezers or microwaves are allowed — everything is made fresh daily with the intent of running out — and the menu features the ever-popular whole hog barbecue sandwich topped with slaw, a Southern “paddy” melt dolloped with pimento cheese, and Mississippi catfish fingers. Southern sides like cornbread hoecakes and macaroni and cheese are made from Martin’s family recipes, as are Mrs. Kitty’s coconut cake and Martha Ann’s fudge pie. To sip on, the Cumberland grog is made with allspice and Cheerwine and the Tennessee sour combines a classic whiskey sour with red wine, and Martin himself curated the beer and wine lists. The new location includes a large patio and a full outdoor bar with views of two block pits where they’ll smoke fresh hogs daily, two private dining spaces, and kitschy Nashville-themed décor, photos from Martin’s youth, and other nostalgic memorabilia lining the walls." - Delia Jo Ramsey
