"I'm reporting that Wicked Donuts, described as a “dangerously delicious gourmet doughnut concept,” has shared the first hints of a future Summerlin location opening this fall from chef and owner Robert Teddy. It will take over a shuttered 2,622-square-foot former Jack in the Box at 9490 W. Lake Mead Blvd., near Hills Center Drive in the Tucson Plaza; the stand-alone site offers plenty of parking and room inside for customers to eat at the “hand crafted donuts” and coffee bar. Designed around a retro “rockabilly” graphic theme, the house specialty is billed as a “heavenly hybrid of classic buttery French brioche and the traditional American fluffy donut,” made with no “blasphemous preservatives or artificial colors.” Menu items currently being tested include a French cruller, the “Parisian” filled with praline crunch, the “Clementine Creme Brûlée,” and “Muy Matcha” featuring matcha, maple, and strawberries. Teddy still operates his M. Antoinette custom showpiece cake business and previously ran the short-lived La Sugarie at the Venetian." - Bradley Martin
