"Tucked away in a Delk Road shopping center, I discovered Minas Emporium and Grill, a combined Brazilian market and cafe run by Rosana Lima that has served as a gathering spot for Atlanta’s Brazilian community since she opened Casa Brazil in 1999 and later purchased the Marietta location in 2009. The market shelves are stocked with Guaraná soda, spreadable requeijão and sweets like Dadinho, which helped my family recreate dishes such as feijoada and enjoy street-food favorites I fell for here—pão de queijo, brigadeiro, pastéis and coxinhas—while the cafe offers a traditional buffet, churrasco cut to order, and fried-to-order street foods. Minas even supplied Fogo de Chão in earlier days, has weathered the Great Recession and the post-9/11 driver’s license law shift that reduced the local Brazilian population, and during the pandemic its market side sustained the business when the restaurant suffered. I’ve watched it foster nostalgia—parents finding childhood treats, fans in golden jerseys during the World Cup and Olympics—and Lima, now 63, remains proud to keep Minas a community anchor and continue growing the business." - Kris Martins
