"A new Mediterranean-style cocktail bar at 5 Fulton Street in Charleston opens in mid-August and has already attracted fashionable bachelorettes and tourists. Conceived by co-owners Jesse Sandole and Darren Harrison-Panes as a place to entertain guests waiting for a table at nearby 167 Raw, it offers a small, focused, ingredient-driven menu—including fresh-baked focaccia, crudos, and a bistro steak—paired with plenty of cocktails that emphasize housemade tonics. The wine list is all European with selections from Croatia, Southern Italy, Greece, and France, and there are two beers on tap (a light and a dark). Nantucket designer Kathleen Hay updated the former Italian space with whites and blues and removed exterior ivy to create an Amalfi Coast–like, beachy interior featuring ocean-colored tiles, wave photography by Dan LeMaitre, rattan chairs, Slim Aarons prints, and nautical touches. The bar is slated to operate Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight, with lunch service to be added soon." - Erin Perkins
