"Gartine sits just steps away from the Rokin metro station, in a tight alley off the main shopping drag of Kalverstraat. The owners opened the restaurant as a way to showcase their garden-grown produce. Rightfully so, as every leaf of cabbage and scoop of onion chutney served on dainty delftware could win awards at a county fair. And while the entrees are great, we find ourselves still thinking about the things that would take supporting roles on other menus: the butter lettuce on the eggs benedict, the soup made of the morning’s harvest, the housemade jams accompanying the French breakfast plate or at high tea. Reservations are a must, as evidenced by the sign that’s usually blocking the entrance to Gartine saying they’re fully booked." - Paolo Española
