"Virginia-Highland was a pizza desert until Pielands Sub & Slice opened in 2021, but the old school pizzeria feels like it’s been part of the neighborhood for years. Well-worn tables have held hundreds of pies, and there’s usually a group of kids huddled around the Pac-Man machine in the corner. And in the bathroom, the walls resemble the pages of a child’s sticker book collection (if they were pizza maniacs). It’s worth a visit just to see the Millennium Falcon in the shape of a pie. While all the arcade and sticker nostalgia is fun, you're here for the pizza, particularly the Noni—a square pizza with a homemade marinara sauce and crust sturdy enough to hold giant globs of melted mozzarella balls.
