Sundays Croissanterie

"There isn’t a single croissant being made in this building. Weird for a place that calls itself a bakery and croissanterie. But their viral croissants are actually produced daily in bulk by La Provence, a wholesale bakery, which we learned from a Sundays staff member and confirmed by calling La Provence (Sundays hasn't responded to a request for comment). That’s probably why the plain croissants here are a bit dry. But no one is buying plain croissants at Sundays. Rather, they’re standing in a line that goes down the block to pay over $7 for creams and glazes that zhuzh up these crescent rolls. There are 12 flavors to choose from. We like the tiramisu because the shot of bitter coffee breaks up the sugariness from the cream. The rest are excessively sweet. If you’re someone who enjoys the kind of sugar high that makes your eyes pop out of their sockets, you’ll like Sundays. If you appreciate a truly great croissant, you won’t find that here." - Virginia Otazo
