"Booking restaurants can sometimes feel like a bloodsport centered around phone taps and long waits, which is why we love breezing into a place like Bia Ôm without any fuss. Hidden behind a building along Sunset, this casual, weekends-only spot has good German food, beer brewed downstairs, and the most spectacular patio we’ve encountered in a long time. Upstairs you’ll find an enormous courtyard with tables under dappled shade, before ordering pretzels, sausages, a slushie spritz, and what must be the largest schnitzel in LA from a window. There’s a “work in progress” vibe to the whole operation, from the hours (Friday to Sunday from 4pm), to the name (the signage says Bia Ôm, their IG says Sunset Beer Garden), but everything about it feels extremely chill." - brant cox, sylvio martins
