"Before NiteOwl showed up, Avondale Estates had four pizza joints. Now there’s this fifth solid option in the mix. Unlike most places in the neighborhood, the bar and restaurant in Olive & Pine (a mixed-use building that also houses Leftie Lee’s and Commune) is open until midnight most nights. The menu is a catch-all of specialty pizzas, wings that are fried hard, tacos, and, on occasion, pancakes. On nice days, they open the garage door wall, so you can catch a breeze while you attack a pile of small, crispy wings with over 18 sauce options. But a sometimes slow kitchen (those wings might take 30 minutes to arrive at your table) means you need to bring your patience along, too. Food Rundown Wings NiteOwl has many wing sauce options, ranging from the usual (hot, lemon pepper, mild) to the fun (garlic alfredo and spicy pesto). But we like their Owl Hot As Sh!t sauce that stays true to its name. Make sure you Wet-Nap those fingers before touching your face. White Pizza This is a decent, if standard, white pizza with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. The crust holds up well even if you take it to go. Cheesy Bread If you want cheesy slices that are the equivalent of a cheese pizza without the tomato sauce, this is your order." - Juli Horsford
