Vinoteca Poscól Review - Montrose - Houston - The Infatuation

"Vinoteca Poscól is the kind of restaurant that’s great for a quick early evening meal with the parents, a casual night sharing charcuterie at the bar, or, once it gets dark outside and the restaurant’s moodiness heightens, a romantic date where you can loiter over a bottle of wine. Housed in a two-story bungalow off Westheimer, the Montrose Italian spot has a low-key, casual atmosphere. It sort of looks like if an Italian restaurant popped up in the great hall of an English estate, or if a pub tried to create a formal dining room. We can’t figure out how a faux-crystal chandelier and a hanging assortment of fake dried salumi fit, or why some tables have tablecloths and others don’t, but this is the kind of spot where you just roll with whatever’s happening and focus on the food instead.  And it’s easy to focus on the food when the enormous menu offers a full page of charcuterie options, tons of small plates and salads, pastas, pizzas, and a fairly laudable mushroom risotto, given you might require a full hour to read it cover to cover. You could make an entire night of dried meat, Italian cheese, and glasses on wine, or a quick dinner of a few small plates.  Nothing here will wow you, but everything is tasty, arrives fast, and will be accompanied by attentive service. Vinoteca Poscól makes for a great choice for when you aren’t sure where to go, but want some solid Italian food for a decent price in Montrose. " - Chelsea Thomas
