"We’re going to go out on a limb and say that Hart’s is not only one of the UK’s best bakeries, it’s also this nation’s leading train-catching saboteur. Tucked away in one of the converted Victorian archways beneath Bristol Temple Meads station, it makes a very good case for setting your return ticket on fire so you can elope with one of planet earth’s most exceptional, handsome sausage rolls. Out front, locals on benches thumb through little paperbacks, while inside, bakers in green aprons buzz around the prep area crafting loaves of country rye sourdough as tourists enter an indecision spiral at the counter. It’s all achingly charming and you should aim to stop by before lunchtime for two reasons—to ensure you can nab one of the must-try daily specials before they sell out and because hearing “your flat white is ready” being called in a thick West Country accent is an excellent way to start your day." - Heidi Lauth Beasley
