"Gnar Bar is switching things up from the many California-cuisine vegetable gallettes and grass-fed burgers in town. The broadly Asian and Hawaiian counter-service restaurant serves furikake-dusted spam musubi, poke bowls with perfectly fanned-out avocado slices, and tonkatsu ramen. A sleeper hit is the chicken karaage over rice, which is finished off with salt and fried until craggy and golden.
