"The many verandas at Crotto dei Platani are what you’d imagine any lakeside restaurant in Lake Como to be: They're peaceful, with a view that reminds us of a painting, and there’s a private pier for that boat you may or may not have arrived in. Foodwise, this place completely departs from the Italian dishes non-local palates are used to (pasta al pomodoro, insalata primavera), and that’s why we love it. Traditional plates are punched up with unexpected flavor combinations inspired by whatever’s growing in nature, like the black cabbage gnocchi with its welcomed bitterness.
