"The super crispy falafel and thick pita is what keeps us going back to Tesfa, a small, counter-style restaurant in the Plateau. The two owners are brothers who made their way from Eritrea to Montreal, and now have amenu of housemade shawarma and kebabs, plus veggie options (in plate or pita version) served with their zhug. The way they treat eggplant really sends us over the top, though. It comes smoked in the De Maman plate, served with tahini, hummus, pickles, and that zhug. And it’s fried in their signature sabich, slathered with more zhug and a tangy amba mango sauce. You can order out from Tesfa, but the (often Ethiopian) soundtrack and the happy hum in the kitchen make it worth showing up for in person. photo credit: Two Food Photographers" - Ivy Lerner-Frank
