The beef noodle soup at this little handmade Chinese noodle specialist is my kind of prescription. There was plenty of bite in the noodles, the broth had a deep umami flavour, and there was a maternal generosity with beef and herbs. A fragrant bowl of soup like this needs plenty of fresh foliage and this one has got it. And a couple of spoons of the doctor’s chilli oil livened things up even further to the point that a film of Sichuan peppercorn oil happily coated my throat.
