Older siblings the Anchor & Hope and the Canton Arms are two of the most consistently great pubs for food—that still maintain a feeling of comforting pub-ishness. The Clarence on Stoke Newington Church Street is somewhere that feels like it’s been making roast cod, slow-cooked lamb shoulder with dauphinoise, and other modern European-leaning dishes forever.
