Jonny's Pizza - Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"The defining characteristic of the slices at Jonny’s, a neon Lower East Side pizzeria open well after midnight on weekends, is lightness. Pick up your paper plate too fast, and there’s a chance you’ll fling your $4.50 plain slice across the slice shop. This pizza is as thin as a folded napkin, and when it’s hot out of the oven, the crust crunches between your teeth. But while Jonny's pies excel in texture, they lack in flavor. Slices are a touch undersauced, and that tomato sauce doesn’t have a ton of poppy brightness to begin with. The pizza also doesn't go hard enough in the gooey cheese department. Still, Jonny's is worth a visit if you go out or live in the area. Your tastebuds aren’t that perceptive at 3am, anyway. Food Rundown Cheese For a light, crunchy slice, their standard cheese is more than satisfying. It lives on the expensive end of the slice spectrum, but after you’ve spent a fortune drinking tequila sodas around the corner, $4.50 won’t seem so bad. photo credit: Jonny's Pizza Vodka Pepperoni Go for a vodka slice. The sauce has more sweetness than Jonny's standard tomato version, and they use little cups of punchy, curly pepperoni. Sprinkle on some chili flakes and you're good to go. photo credit: Jonny's Pizza" - Will Hartman
