"Restoration Hardware is mainly filled with 54,00 square feet of fancy furniture we can’t afford, and we love it. But this love affair has nothing to do with the furniture, and everything to do with the Three Arts Cafe. To give you some perspective on the building, The Three Arts Club was an actual home and club for women built in 1914 in the Gold Coast. It served as a shared residential space until 2004, was empty for a few years, and is now the flagship store for Restoration Hardware. Five floors of furniture shopping is our worst nightmare, but the restaurant inside of it is great. The cafe in the first floor atrium is stunningly beautiful. And the natural light and flowing water fountain in the center of it all makes the place feel very serene. We can’t always sip champagne at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon, but this place makes us want to, and we can’t get enough of the space and the people watching. We go out of our way to hang here for coffee and a light bite, or an extended brunch or lunch when we have nowhere else to be. The food is by no means an afterthought here. Get serious with an excellent truffled grilled cheese, one of the salads, or a simple yet delicious burger. Just know that 3 Arts Cafe is only open until 9pm, so you can do dinner, but time is limited. Food Rundown Pastries The daily selections change, but always a good option if you’re looking to hang out over coffee and a light bite. Shaved Vegetable Salad All of the salads are pretty good, but the shaved vegetable salad is our first pick. Burrata Creamy burrata with slow-roasted tomatoes and garlic bread for spreading. Great for sharing. Grilled Cheese Grilled cheese with cheddar and truffle butter on texas toast. The truffle butter is noticeable but not overbearing, and the the cheese is perfectly melted without the bread being overcooked. It’s an excellent grilled cheese with a side salad or fries worth every bit of $12. Grilled Chicken Chicken breast with some au jus and roasted onions. If you want something hearty but still a little healthy then this is the move. Salmon Board A wood plank of cured salmon, cucumber, pickled radish, cream cheese with salmon roe in it, and texas toast. It’s a hearty portion and plenty to feed one person. The texas toast is good, but you might feel like you overdid it with the bread if you eat it all. The salmon roe in the cream cheese is a great touch. RH Burger Word on the street is Au Cheval does a pretty good burger, so there’s no surprise it’s sister-restaurant Three Arts Cafe has a solid version as well. A simple, really good burger with cheese, pickles, and dijonnaise." - Sam Faye
