"Roberta’s, the restaurant that turned Bushwick into a pizza power player, has moved up in the world. This second location, near Penn Station, has a second, full-service Roberta's on the roof, and an outpost of their to-go slice shop, R.Slice, tucked underneath. You won’t find slices like these anywhere in the vicinity—especially the Fire & Ice, which is topped with a tingly mixture of nduja, stracciatella, chili oil, and basil. Even if you just want a plain cheese or pepperoni, it’s worth seeking out these foldable NYC slices for their perfect sourdough crusts. There are a couple of very cramped bar seats inside, but plenty of tables, and tree shade, on the breezy plaza outside. You can also get whole pies—New York or Roberta’s tried-and-true Neapolitans—to-go. Food Rundown photo credit: Kate Previte Fire & Ice The Fire & Ice pizza is named after an appetizer of stretchy stracciatella and dollops of nduja at Roberta’s sister restaurant Foul Witch. It’s even better as a slice. The cheese is the cooling “ice” spread over the pie, and the sausage and chili oil bring the heat. Onion & Chive Too many onions? Never enough. We like that these onions are only slightly sweet—this is still a very savory slice. Cheese A perfect cheese slice with a crackly yet still chewy crust." - Neha Talreja
