"Soul Food Vegan is an unassuming neighborhood spot across the street from Emancipation Park. Combining meatless comfort food with a dash of Creole flavor, this vegan restaurant serves Cajun pasta, burgers, jambalaya, and fresh-pressed moringa juice. Consistency can sometimes be an issue, and some of the flavor is substituted for random punches of cayenne pepper. But on the right days, you are ready to pledge your allegiance to oyster mushrooms. We'll take them deep-fried and pressed between toasted bread in their po’boy or straight up on a tray next to collard greens and deceptively cheesy macaroni. You don’t go to Soul Food Vegan for the scene but rather for a quick bite to finish off the day. photo credit: Vivian Leba photo credit: Vivian Leba video credit: Vivian Leba" - Gianni Greene
