"$25 cocktails might not make the residents of The Surf Club flinch, but they’re a special occasion treat for most of us. That’s what you can expect at the bar inside this classic Surfside hotel, which is an appropriately old-money setting to splurge on a nightcap. The historic beachside building is gorgeous, but you’re not just paying for atmosphere. Bartenders dressed like they’re working a wedding in heaven pour highly engineered cocktails into stemware so delicate you’re kind of afraid to touch it. It’s all great, but they have a few martini riffs we really love, like the politely sweet mango and olive martini, made with clarified mango, toasted rice shochu, and olives stuffed with the leftover mango puree." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
