El Lechoncito De Oro - Review - Centro - Oaxaca - The Infatuation

"There’s usually a line at El Lechoncito de Oro, a street vendor renowned for mastering the art of slow-cooked suckling pig. This tender, fatty meat is chopped and served in taco, tostada, or torta form. Always go torta since the bread absorbs part of the fat of the meat, and you can (and should) ask for it with crunchy bites of chicharrón. Whatever you choose, make sure to add a spoonful of green salsa to take your palate for a ride. It’s made with avocado and has just the right level of spice to straighten your bar-hopping night downtown without being overwhelmingly hot (if you have a low tolerance for spiciness, better to sit this one out). They have a few plastic benches for sitting, but everyone eats standing. This spot opens at 8pm and closes 4-5am, making it a perfect stop after mezcal tasting. photo credit: Carlos Elizondo photo credit: Carlos Elizondo photo credit: Carlos Elizondo" - Mariana Camacho
