"If you live in Norcross, El Indio should already be part of your lunch rotation. If you’re an ITPer who won’t venture past I-285, you need to make an exception. This counter-service spot sits in a strip mall and quietly churns out fantastic Mexican dishes. The one unmissable here is the cheesy birria taco with tender shredded beef and a consommé that’s more like a stew since it's swimming with giant chunks of beef. The fast-casual dining room with modest booths and meals served on plastic trays is peppered with conversations in Spanish and stays bumping at all hours (even until midnight on weekends). So prepare to wait in the line to order—and then in another line to snag spicy sauces from the salsa bar. Food Rundown photo credit: Sarah Newman Quesatacos The tacos are good. The consommé is better (so far, our favorite in the metro). Get a spoon so you don't leave even a single drop of the beefy, rich broth behind. Rice & Beans This simple dish goes well with any meal. The orange rice is the perfect balance for the soupy refried beans. Asada Tacos The asada is cut up into tiny pieces and is so tender and flavorful you don't even need to add any salsa. photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman" - Juli Horsford
