"Patacon Pisao is a great spot for people who love to share. The casual Colombian restaurant in Doral specializes in all things patacones. Whole plantains are flattened, fried into canoe-like structures, and served with meat you can fill them with. Our favorite is the salteado, which comes with beef sauteed in onions and tomatoes. It’s fun to share and might result in a passive aggressive battle to see who can break off a bigger piece of patacon. They also make great meat empanadas with a spicy sauce that should be used with caution. If things do get too spicy, wash it down with a coconut lemonade that comes in whimsical glasses with utensils for handles. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Food Rundown video credit: Mariana Trabanino Jugos Naturales These fruit slushees are as exciting as the glasses they come in. They’re sweet, icy, and so refreshing you might inhale them with the urgency of a kid drinking water during recess. But pace yourself—you’ll need the soothing sensation of pineapple and mint when you gulp down too much hot sauce. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Patacon Salteado Think of it as a giant plantain chip. And use it to assemble makeshift tacos with the pot of chicken. While there are many to choose from on the menu (plus an option to build your own) we like this the best. video credit: Mariana Trabanino Arepa De Choclo This cheesy corn cake is savory enough to be an appetizer, yet sweet enough to be a dessert. It’s great to share, but you can also treat it like the personal pizza it looks like and have this corny hot cake all to yourself." - Mariana Trabanino
