"Foxley, one of the last OGs of the Ossington that once was, has lasted long enough to see Asian fusion go from in to out to in again. It’s a warmly-lit, relaxed neighborhood bistro that never tried to be trendy, because the food has always been extremely solid. The blistered dumplings, stuffed with lamb and duck prosciutto, are rich and just the right amount of gamey, while the sea bream crudo with yuzu and dill is almost disorienting, like Nordic Vietnamese food. The vegetables are rich enough to be dessert: molten eggplant bubbles in a miso–yuzu glaze that makes us think of lemon curd, while mushroom inari sushi hides vinegared rice inside a sweet-salty tofu pouch that almost tastes like French toast. The Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée isn’t strictly necessary—but then again, neither is restraint." - Erin Hershberg
