"At Daesung Korean Noodle in Murray Hill, Queens, everyone’s eating soup. There are nearly 40 varieties, all served in great big bowls that fill the room with steam like the beginning of a broth-based facial. The three-generation families who crowd into the wooden booths all have their usual orders, like the simple, clean-tasting signature kalguksu or the bulgogi soondubu kalguksu with tofu so silky it quivers and sweet strands of beef tangled between chewy homemade noodles. Both are worthy of an order to accompany the sizzling personal-pizza-sized pajun packed with squid and bacon and the default banchan spread with notably crisp and cold kimchi. photo credit: Alex Staniloff photo credit: Alex Staniloff photo credit: Alex Staniloff photo credit: Alex Staniloff photo credit: Alex Staniloff Daesung Korean Noodle doesn’t take reservations and there’s usually a wait on the weekends, but it moves quickly. Bring a group of the soup people in your life, put your name on the handwritten list at the front, and then pass the time stealing glances at other customers' bowls." - Willa Moore
