"Atlantic Bakery is something of a Brixton institution. The Caribbean takeaway spot makes its own chicken, curry goat, and beef patties daily, alongside portions of fried chicken, ackee and saltfish, and jerk chicken. We’ve only come by for the generously filled patties, but they’re worth going out of your way for, especially at £2.50 each. Each filling is carefully flavoured: the beef is rich with a scotch bonnet heat that gradually grows into a whack at the back of your throat, and the curry goat mixes an aromatic sauce with tender meat. The pastry itself is flaky and crunchy on the crust, and tastes even better warmed up in the oven at home. Food Rundown Curry Goat Patty There’s plenty of layered flavour that goes into Atlantic’s fillings, and the curry goat is a great example. Warm, even-handed curry powder spicing, with hits of thyme, and rich goat meat. photo credit: Emily Hai Beef Patty The filling on this beef patty is of the drier variety with flakes of beef spread generously inside. We like that. The scotch bonnet in this does not mess about." - Jake Missing
