3am dumplings are within reach at Seattle Dumpling House - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"If you require dumplings during the wee hours of the morn, you can do much better than Purple Dot, or a freezer-burnt bag of Trader Joe’s shu mai. Instead, pop by this open-till-3:30 cart in Wallingford. We’d sit counting pebbles on the curb for 20 minutes just to snag their creamy-crunchy crab rangoons. And the other dishes—like spicy pork wontons, gingery chicken gyoza, and basil fried rice—are also immensely satisfying after a night out. Best part is, you can take your order inside the adjoining Sea Monster, making Funky Fridays even funkier. Food Rundown Thai Iced Tea You know what, this is a standup Thai iced tea. Bold and rich with a barely-there sweetness. It would kill as a refreshing cupholder drink on the ride home. photo credit: Makena Yee Crab Rangoon Delight Why, yes, they are a delight. Not too crabby, not too cream-cheesy, and the little wonton edges crunch like potato chips. Don't leave without 'em. photo credit: Makena Yee Chicken & Vegetables Golden Gardens Gyoza They're not the crackliest gyoza in the galaxy, but we're fans of the filling, accented by lots of ginger and cabbage bits. Dunk liberally in the accompanying sauce. photo credit: Makena Yee Savory Jade Pork & Chili Wontons These pork dumplings are covered in a chili mixture that's drier than your usual chili oil. The result is a more subtle spice that gets along well with fried shallots and fresh scallions, and the calming effects of dipping sauce. Don't expect the most groundbreaking of fillings, though (that's what tamari is for). photo credit: Makena Yee Holy Basil & Prawn Wok-Fried Rice This is a very good rendition on basil fried rice. Just note that the prawns inside are nothing special, and there's enough not-quite-cooked-enough garlic to taste it the next day, even after a thorough brushing with some Crest 3D White." - Aimee Rizzo
