"Newcomers work really hard to replicate the sort of old-school diner patina and charm that Sam’s No. 3 naturally lives and breathes. That’s because it is an old-school diner, and has been nursing hangovers with its greasy spoon menu for almost 100 years. Everything is bigger at Sam’s, including the 16-page menu, ginormous green-chile drenched breakfast burritos, and the crowds. For the most legit experience, grab a counter stool at the downtown location (there’s a second in Glendale), order a michelada and one of the 20 breakfast burritos, and take in the eclectic scene." - Allyson Reedy
