Otto & Pepe - Review - Wynwood - Miami - The Infatuation

"Otto & Pepe calls itself a pasta bar. That makes us picture an omakase-style counter where we get handed the kind of exceptional noodles that’d bring us a little closer to la dolce vita. But that’s not Otto & Pepe. The pastas here range from good to oversauced or clumpy. Instead, it’s best to think of this place as a solid last-minute dinner option in Wynwood. photo credit: Otto & Pepe photo credit: Otto & Pepe photo credit: Otto & Pepe Pause Unmute It’s mostly counter seating inside, and they have a patio out back that’s better for larger parties. If you do find yourself eating here, stick to the orecchiette alla norma and tiramisu. You can also pick up a Barolo from the adjoining wine shop to pair with whatever trashy show you’ve been binging at home. But just know that there are much better pasta options in Miami—and even in Wynwood. Food Rundown Panzanella Con Tartare Di Pesce This is just big chunks of celery, peppers, crutons, and branzino. You could do better at home by throwing the ingredients into a bowl and calling it a day. Don’t spend $26 on this. It’s not a huge serving, but it’s hearty. PlayMute video credit: Julia Malave Tagliolino Cacio E Pepe A classic cacio e pepe has just four ingredients: pasta, water, pepper, and pecorino. It should be rich, but not a clumpy mess, and it shouldn’t be swimming in sauce either. Tragically, this sauce is lumpier than your ankles after an ant attack. PlayMute video credit: Virginia Otazo Tiramisu The mascarpone on this bittersweet dessert is fluffy, and the lady fingers are soaked but not soggy. It’s a proper tiramisu. We’d come back here just for this. PlayMute video credit: Julia Malave" - Virginia Otazo
