"The oldest inn in the Palatinate" has been around since 1160 – as it says on the façade. Given that the hosts are dedicated, the atmosphere is charming, and the cuisine is top notch, it's no surprise that it's popular with many (regular) guests – and it's best to book ahead. The restaurant is divided into different rooms, which creates a certain intimacy. Historical and modern details have been successfully combined, with eye-catching features such as wonderful old tiled stoves and a brick fountain. Regional cuisine is served in the form of a lovely à la carte selection, with Palatinate classics sometimes getting a modern makeover. Appetising dishes includeGrumbeersupp(hearty potato soup with pulled steamed dumplings) andSaumagen Roulette(a variation on the classic Palatinate stuffed pig's stomach).
