"Footscray Community Arts Centre, Footscray by Susu Studio. Beyond the culturally diverse exhibitions and events held at FCAC, this community space is a truly vital institution cultivating social progress through contemporary arts. Of huge importance, FCAC strives to provide a platform to recognise and celebrate the creativity within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Each year the various spaces at FCAC host Wominjeka Festival, ‘a rich and diverse program of art, music, performance and activities that deeply reflects Indigenous culture in Melbourne’s west, and Australia.’ The grounds of the centre feature a mix of colonial buildings, state of the art galleries, a family-friendly café, rolling lawns, palm trees, a murky river, industrial surroundings and sometimes hosts massive festivals like Laneway Festival.
