"Opened in 1973 as the island’s first international five-star resort, this long-established Sanur property retains old-world Balinese charm after a recent renovation, with guest areas by Geoffrey Bawa and a teak-and-bamboo lobby designed by Kerry Hill. The grounds feel overtaken by nature—giant gardens and ponds host over 500 species of flora and fauna—while the grand pool complex (two adult pools plus a dedicated kids' pool) is shaded by mature frangipani and accented by replica stone statues. Situated on the main street and steps from local restaurants, boutiques and surf and diving schools, the hotel also offers a 500m private beach.
