"Tucked away behind what looks like a buzzy Boat Quay coffee shop, I squeezed through a glass-fronted refrigerator that swings open into a tiny passageway and discovered a modern Chinese bar and restaurant designed to mimic Chinatown gambling dens and secret-society hangouts, its walls covered with striking artwork by local and regional artists. The drinks pay homage to Asian culture with inventive concoctions such as the Java Royale (java syrup and calamansi juice) and the Land of the Rising Sun (bourbon-infused yuzu). I also noted a time-limited lunch promotion: until 30 December 2020, an Aperol Spritz is S$15++ (11am–3pm, Tue–Sun) and there are opportunities to win exclusive Aperol merchandise by enquiring with staff." - Vanessa Tai
