"Barely a hotel at all, Avalon Coastal Retreat is a stunning modernist three-bedroom house on the east coast of Tasmania, midway between Hobart and Launceston. The sea views through the house’s glass walls are extraordinary, but the interiors give them a run for their money, thanks to the fine work of local architect Craig Rosevear. Services are limited, but a kitchen fully stocked with quality local foodstuffs makes self-catering easy, and you’re within driving distance of some very good restaurants.
