Barra de Guaratiba is maybe twenty miles outside of Rio proper, on the Atlantic coast to the southwest of town. But that’s far enough. Here, on a hillside overlooking the water, the city is the last thing on your mind, the stresses of urban life replaced by sun, sand, and a generous helping of pared-down post-modern Brazilian interior design.
