"More bed and breakfast than boutique hotel, Entre Hôtes occupies an 18th-century shipbuilder’s house a short walk from La Rochelle’s city center and old port. Inside are a mere five rooms, and to fit in a fifth they’ve had to convert the old vaulted cellar — the result is subterranean, yes, but far from substandard. Each of the five differs in color and décor, but they’re uniformly stylish and well-equipped; again, the cellar room shines with its freestanding bathtub, placed near the foot of the bed. A proper restaurant is beyond its remit, but plenty are available nearby." - Tablet Hotels
