"To truly appreciate the spectacular location of Quinta São José do Barrilário, positioned high in the green hills of the Douro Valley, framed by terraced vineyards that slope down to the Douro River below, you’d have to see it from the air. Luckily, you can get quite close from this luxury hotel’s rooftop infinity pool. The building has a slightly curving shape, following the lines of the landscape, and its rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows to make the most of the natural surroundings. Their interiors, modern and wood-lined, take inspiration from the region’s winemaking traditions — custom-made beds look like they’ve been crafted out of giant wine barrels.
