"A brief drive from Savannah delivered us into a 20,000-acre, Spanish-moss-draped escape where a golf cart is the main mode of transportation and we also grabbed rental bikes, much of it a protected nature conservancy with 32 miles of waterfront. Any remaining traces of the much-overrated “real world” disappeared as we settled into a sprawling three-story brick home in Wilson Village—a newish build that nods to classic Southern architecture. The vibe is laid-back (but not lazy) and superbly appointed Southern luxury, slow and low, all white picket fences, riverfront cottages, and porches made for napping or sipping lemonade. Even though I usually bristle at high-end utopian environments, everything here works seamlessly and effortlessly. There’s an impressively large Inn with a library and smores-ready fire pits tucked behind it, plus dining that ranges from grab-and-go casual to sit-down spots and a slightly higher-end option." - Corey Seymour
