"Set on a corner in Hipódromo, you'll check in outside then climb a beautiful wooden spiral staircase to the second-floor dining room where floor-to-ceiling windows and vaulted ceiling lend a contemporary flair. A colorful art installation echoes the neighborhood's creative spirit, also seen in this kitchen's contemporary Mexican dishes. Most of the dishes are designed for sharing, making it an ideal spot for a group. Don't miss the tostada de coco, a blue corn tostada piled with avocado, chintextle, and coconut with a subtle savory flavor that is as stunning as it is surprising. For dessert, nothing beats the chocolate tamal with coconut crumble and hoja santa ice cream." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Restaurants in Mexico City | Eater

"After opening in the Centro Histórico neighborhood in late 2021, Caracol de Mar has adopted Condesa as its new home. Gabriela Camara’s hospitality and vision shine the brightest at the newest iteration of the restaurant, which welcomes guests with bar seating and cocktails on the first floor and a stunning salon filled with natural light on the top floor. The culinary ethos remains, with sustainability and seasonal seafood at the core and all-time menu favorites in tow. Order the green mole risotto, the grilled octopus, and the braised short rib with black sauce. Caracol de Mar also offers Contramar’s most beloved dish: grilled fish with red and green sauce. Must-try dish: Gabriela Camara’s restaurants are also famous for Carajillos, a beloved cocktail in Mexico City prepared with espresso and Liquor 43, usually prepared at the table." - Natalia de la Rosa

The 17 Best Restaurants In Condesa - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"You’re at Caracol de Mar, from the chef behind Contramar and Entremar, for the incredible seafood—and to sit in a beautiful space that feels like a seaside mansion thanks to floating seashells, squid paintings, and an impressive natural fiber art installation by Mexican artist Beatriz Morales. The menu is packed with all the great things that come from the sea: ceviches that are as fresh as it gets, spicy aguachiles, fish al pastor tacos, and seasonally changing small plates like pulpo al carbón. Like its sibling restaurants, there’s also a must-order tuna tostada on the menu, but this version is topped with furikake." - guillaume guevara

2024 Mexico MICHELIN Bib Gourmands

"With a prime position in the city center near the Metropolitan Cathedral, this seafood-focused restaurant mixes Mexican culinary knowledge with touches of Peruvian cuisine, and the moderate prices are a boon in an area not known for being wallet friendly. Begin with aguachile de camarón, a deliciously fresh dish that is as beautiful as it is refreshing. Pulpo al carbón de olote is a well-prepared plate with good flavor and a delightful smoky note. To finish, passion fruit granita and slices of sweet mango is pleasantly simple." - The MICHELIN Guide US Editorial Team

We arrived around 1:30pm the day after Christmas. We did not have a reservation but we're still seated promptly in the dining room on the second floor with a lovely tree-street view. Stunning. We ordered a Cosmo and a margarita. Delicious. The octopus tostada and eggplant tamal with mole to start. Both so tasty. The mole. Wow. Then the pea risotto and the charred sweet potato. So nourishing. We loved every bite. The staff was so attentive and there were a lot of them. Quite the team. And everyone had a warm smile.

This was one of the best seafood dinners we had in Mexico City and so fun! The energy of the room, the top notch service, the beautiful cocktails… everything was in flow stare! We didn’t know what to order and what to leave out - so that will be your only issue. Among 4 of us we ordered and shared all the dishes. Cocktails and wine was perfect. They kept us hydrated. The most surprising dish was the unassuming baked sweet potato with caramelized bone marrow sauce - the combo is unbelievable! Is it dessert is it a snack what is it… well, it was divine and we loved it. The fish with red and green sauce was equally incredible. Although not a big dessert eater group we ordered the Tres Leches cake and it was also remarkable - the twist they put on this classic made us eat the whole thing. Service was fluid and very attentive without being overbearing. We just were well taken care of. That is what pros do, and thank you for that. The restaurant was mostly filled with locals having joyful dinner and conversation. Families, couples, friends… and there were taking part in this mini sea of humanity. A table broke out into songs and we just loved it; where do you find divine food and spontaneity like that?! So… get a reservation, because it’s very popular and it was packed to the gills! All pun intended! Enjoy and break into song if the mood strikes. Put it on your list and check it!

Outstanding food in a gorgeous setting - we absolutely loved the lettuce, the oysters, the shrimp, the octopus, the tuna tostada, the fish main, the banana dessert and the chocolate tamale. Each dish was so flavourful and delicious, and the drinks are really nice as well. The ambiance is vibey and the staff are friendly - my only qualm is that my chair was right next to the staff area in the middle so I could hear/feel them walking behind me, moving dishes, chatting etc which wasn’t the best (though no one’s fault, just a layout flaw). Overall amazing spot, can’t recommend enough!

Let me start by the saying the service is great. The host and server were both attentive and polite. I ordered the octopus tostada to start and that was delicious! Unfortunately it went downhill as I received the ceviche which was extremely salty. The last dish that was recommended by the server was an uni pasta, which I couldn’t even finish as the sauce was just melted cheese. Don’t get me wrong—I love cheese, but I don’t think it should be replacing pasta sauce as a whole. Overall, super disappointed with the experience and definitely not worth the high price.

We went to Caracol de Mar to celebrate a birthday. They did not disappoint. Among 4 of us we ordered a salad, tostada, warm tuna appetizer, sea urchin pasta and the whole fish Contramar style and one dessert. I was delighted to try the salad (purslane and a romalito herb) it’s a creative, refreshing local ingredient salad. Another delight is the creamy sea urchin pasta. Both I love to recreate at home for my future guests. I think the whole fish is better at their main restaurant but it’s still good. The only dish that’s not my cup of tea is the warm tuna, it’s a bit too strong for me but my husband absolutely love that plate and he finished everything. We ordered tres leche cake and they brought us a shaved ice to clean our palate before our dessert was up. Jamaica Mazcal cocktail is another highlight. Other guests order Cuba libre which is really nothing special. Service was casual yet professional. I appreciate their attentiveness and check in, not as often but adequate. Another aspect I like is they don’t try to upsale you but give a genuine comments on selection that interested us. It’s one of the many good restaurants in CDMX, if you never have contemporary Mexican food, give it a try!

Great time visiting for lunch. Octopus tostadas are amazing, so are the tuna ones. The salsas are top notch with great flavours. We tried the Caracol with truffled butter and it was delicious. Also gave the chance to the Garlic Shrimps and the Crudo Shrimp, both dishes were great! Will definitely go back for more of the menu. Overall 9.5/10

Very few places do I go that everything tastes amazing. Everything tasted amazing! The restaurant atmosphere was great! The service was phenomenal. I felt like a celebrity with the level of service and quality and creativity of the food and the ambiance. If you are in Mexico City and you haven’t visited this restaurant, this is the sign. Go check it out right now, you will not be disappointed!

The experience was amazing from start to finish. We loved the ceviche, and the sweet potato with bone marrow was delicious . The fish dishes were also very tasty. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the service was pretty good. Overall, a great dining experience.
