"Chengdu Taste is a Sichuan staple in SoCal that made its way to Seattle, and we’re a better city for it. After a few bites of outstanding mung bean jelly noodles, it’s easy to understand why our California colleagues love this place so much. But then you’d be ignoring the juicy wontons in pepper sauce, morsels of cumin-rubbed lamb on toothpicks, and tasty boiled fish soaked in a green pepper stew. This isn’t the first time Seattle has inherited a new location of a Los Angeles spot, but Chengdu Taste is the first one to really get excited about." - aimee rizzo, carlo mantuano, kayla sager riley
"The celebrated Sichuan chain from Southern California opened its first Seattle location in 2020, serving popular specialties such as toothpick lamb with cumin, mung bean jelly noodles drenched in chili sauce, and a cold spring onion chicken in pepper sauce. Diners will delight in the ma la (numbing and spicy) aftermath of the Sichuan peppercorn and chili-laden dishes; ma po tofu aficionados should especially give Chengdu Taste’s version a try." - Jay Friedman
"Chengdu Taste is a Sichuan staple from Los Angeles that made its way to the PNW, and while you might come here looking to numb your entire body by way of stewed fish, don't miss the wontons in chili oil. They're pleasantly slick, gritty with garlic and crushed peppercorns, and act as a not-as-spicy cooldown for the more serious Sichuan plates." - aimee rizzo
"Chengdu Taste is a Sichuan staple in SoCal that made its way to Seattle, and we’re a better city for it. After a few bites of outstanding mung bean jelly noodles tossed in tingly chili and roasted peanuts, it’s easy to whole-heartedly understand why our California colleagues love this place so much. But then you’d be ignoring the juicy wontons in pepper sauce, morsels of cumin-rubbed lamb on toothpicks, spicy dry-fried chicken pieces, and boiled fish soaked in a green pepper stew that lights your mouth up like delicious (and very safe) dynamite. This isn’t the first time Seattle has inherited a new location of a Los Angeles spot, but Chengdu Taste is the first one to really get excited about." - aimee rizzo
"The celebrated Sichuan chain from Southern California opened its first Seattle location in the Chinatown-International District in 2020, serving popular specialties such as toothpick lamb with cumin, mung bean jelly noodles drenched in chile sauce, and a cold spring onion chicken in pepper sauce. Boiled beef in hot sauce offers a double whammy of chiles and chile paste, and mapo tofu aficionados should definitely give Chengdu Taste’s version a try. If dining in, boboji is a fun cold dish comprised of chicken and vegetable skewers in either a red chilie or green pepper sauce. This is also a great place to try maoxuewang. Sometimes called duck blood casserole, it actually has a wide variety of ingredients including fish, ham/spam, organ meats, and more in a spicy broth." - Jay Friedman
