"The Royal Opera House standsright in the middle of the city and is also a key part of its cultural and culinary life. Home to several outstanding restaurants, this is still the country’s main venue for opera and ballet. There’s been an opera house on this site for centuries but the current building opened in 1898. The interior is stunning, with a red-and-gold auditorium and the famous gold foyer, which you can visit during the intermission.
