"One of the hippest hotels in St. Anton, the Lux is the creation of renowned mountain architect Georg Driendl, who set out to create the opposite to the traditional Tirolean concept – ‘St Anton without the deer antlers’, in the words of the owners. Instead of wood, tiles and ornamental carving, read glass, steel and rough-faced concrete. Instead of rusticity, cue an informal, urban vibe – the staff wear jeans, not lederhosen. Unconventional maybe, but it’s a ski resort, so plenty of cosiness too. Located a few minutes’ walk from the village centre, on the road up to the Arlberg Pass, it’s quiet in the evenings, away from what is often a noisy main street. The nearest ski lift is 600m away.
