The Duke of Richmond Hotel
"Arguably Guernsey’s grandest luxury hotel in the heart of St. Peter Port, The Duke is set on a hill overlooking the sea near peaceful gardens and has a garden terrace with a lovely pool open during the summer. The rooms are large, and rather like jewellery boxes, all plush silvery fabric with red and white flowers decorating the walls, or glitzy stripes, alongside polished mirrors and chandeliers. The beds are wide and comfortable, and there’s plenty of space to lounge about. The Leopard Bar and Restaurant is one of the Duke’s biggest pulls, serving mouth-watering fresh seafood caught daily, such as scallops and brill, but it’s as much for the décor as for the food. The seats and carpet are all leopard print and stripes, giving the impression of a safari hunting lodge, which is perhaps what the South African owner, Beatrice Tollman of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, intended."
