"Palazzo Biscari is a private 600-room palace in Catania, adorned with a lava-rock-and-limestone facade featuring smirking cherubs and hollow-eyed caryatids. Ruggero Moncada, a descendant of the original owners, lives in one wing of the palazzo and gives tours by appointment. The grand ballroom was used as a make-shift tennis court by British soldiers during World War II."
